From comforting hot teas to refreshing iced options, you’ll soon discover your new go-to drink at Starbucks. Let’s dive in!

What Kind Of Tea Does Starbucks Have?

Being a coffee lover, I’m a huge fan of Starbucks. It provides easy access to good coffee, especially when you’re on the go or need a quick caffeine fix.

I’ve tried so many of their beverages that I can recommend the best Starbucks drinks to anyone who asks. To save money, I either order the cheapest coffees at Starbucks or just make my own version of the popular Starbucks Iced Americano at home.

My husband, on the other hand, loves tea and he showed me that Starbucks carries an impressive range of tea drinks that are worth exploring. I’ve only ever tried Starbucks green tea drinks before, specifically matcha

I found that Starbucks has an offering for different types of tea lovers. Whether you take your tea hot or iced or you’re into sweet and creamy, herbal, floral, or black teas, you’re sure to find something for you. Let’s explore all the current tea offerings available at Starbucks.

Hot Teas

The Starbucks hot tea selection currently includes black, chai, green, and herbal teas. These warming drinks are perfect for cool weather or when you just need to relax and soothe your senses.

Black Teas

Starbucks currently offers four hot black teas, namely Earl Grey Tea, Teavana London Fog Tea Latte, Royal English Breakfast Tea, and Royal English Breakfast Tea Latte. These simple, earthy, and comforting selections are a must-try for a great tea experience.

  • Earl Grey Tea: Earl Grey tea has a distinctive and elegant taste characterized by its blend of a strong black tea base and the fragrant essence of the citrus fruit bergamot. This hot drink is balanced and refreshing with a smooth, slightly tangy finish.
  • London Fog Tea Latte: This drink is a reinvention of the classic Earl Grey Tea. It’s made with Earl Grey tea, steamed milk, and a dash of vanilla syrup. I loved the frothiness of this drink that it made me want to learn how to use a milk frother at home!
  • Royal English Breakfast Tea: This morning black tea has a bold, complex flavor with malty, bitter, and sweet notes. It’s perfect to start your day guilt-free!
  • Royal English Breakfast Tea Latte: This timeless drink is made with full-leaf black teas from India and Sri Lanka and sweetened with liquid cane sugar. I like its smooth and silky texture brought on by steamed milk and velvety foam topping.

Chai Teas

We love chai tea at home. It’s just nice to get cozy with a cup of pumpkin spice chai latte or chocolate chai latte to unwind at night. Naturally I was curious about the chai teas in Starbucks. There are two available – the Chai Tea and the Chai Tea Latte.

  • Chai Tea: Starbucks’ Chai tea uses black tea as a base and is infused with notes of clove, cardamom, cinnamon and ginger. This tea has a bold, distinct spicy flavor and contains 0 calories, 0 sugar, and 0 fat. This is my go-to tea that I even made a Starbucks chai tea copycat at home!
  • Chai Tea Latte: This delicious drink, which contains 240 calories, is Tazo chai syrup concentrate combined with steamed milk then topped with foam, creating the right balance between sweet and spicy. If you prefer a creamier texture, ask to add a healthy dash of heavy cream for the perfect warming, velvety cup.

Green Teas

If you’re in the mood for something light and refreshing, try the hot green teas at Starbucks. You can choose from Emperor’s Clouds & Mist, Matcha Tea Latte, and Honey Citrus Mint Tea.

  • Emperor’s Clouds & Mist: Cultivated at 3,500 feet, this green tea has a slightly smoky and subtly sweet flavor. It’s great for a refreshing and soothing tea experience, perfect for any time of the day.
  • Matcha Tea Latte: You’ll love this cup if you like creamy teas. It’s the perfect blend of Japanese green tea, steamed milk, and sugar which creates a rich, velvety, and delicious drink.

Must-Try Drinks From The Starbucks Hot Tea Secret Menu

Now let’s go to the Starbucks secret menu! If you like surprises or if you’re feeling adventurous, try one of the hot tea secret menu items. I did try a lot of them, but hands down, here are some of my favorites.

Peach Cobbler

Imagine a peach cobbler fresh out of the oven. What if I told you that you can enjoy the beloved dessert in hot tea form? Starbucks’ Peach Cobbler is a warm, soothing, and subtly sweet drink that will take you back to your grandmother’s kitchen.

To get this drink, order a grande Peach Tranquility tea. Ask to add one pump each of cinnamon, brown sugar, and vanilla syrup. Don’t let the tea steep for too long, unless you want a bitter drink!

Chai Apple Tea

Like my fall coffee recipes, this secret menu drink tastes like autumn in a cup. It’s a delicious combination of apple, rich caramel, and bold chai spices. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and spicy, reminiscent of apple cider vinegar. To order the Chai Apple Tea, ask for Caramel Apple Spice with chai concentrate (try a pump, then adjust according to your liking).

White Chocolate Cinnamon Chai Latte

White chocolate, cinnamon, and chai tea? Yes, please! Indulge in this creamy, velvety concoction which balances sweetness and spiciness perfectly. Start by ordering a Chai Latte prepared with whole milk (no water), then ask to add one pump each of white mocha and cinnamon dolce syrup. While you’re at it, ask the barista to add a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.

Gingerbread Latte

This secret menu item is the ultimate Christmas treat, much like my favorite holiday coffee drinks. It will give you the warm, cozy vibes of winter any time of the year. To get this delicious drink, just order a grande Cinnamon Dolce Latte with two pumps of white mocha and one pump of chai. Top with a dusting of cinnamon or nutmeg for the ultimate holiday feel.

Olaf’s Chai

Olaf, the loveable snowman character in Frozen, has a hot tea secret menu item named after him. This refreshing drink combines the comforting flavors of white hot chocolate and the spiciness of chai, a nod to Olaf’s fondness for hot chocolate and summertime.

To get Olaf’s Chai, ask the barista to start with a base of white hot chocolate, then add 1 to 2 chai pumps (depending on your preference). The result is a sweet and slightly spicy hot tea – once you taste it, you won’t “let it go”!
